Privacy Policy

Chizld has no account and no server of its own. Almost everything you log never leaves your phone — and this page is specific about the exceptions.
The short version
- Everything you log Workouts, weights, meals, measurements, sleep, steps, photos. Stored on your device. Never sent to us.
- Crash reports Sent, on by default, so we can fix what breaks. Contains no content you logged. Switchable off in Settings.
- Usage analytics Off unless you turn it on. We ask once, inside the app. Counts screens, never content.
- Video links you save Sent to YouTube to fetch the title and play the video. This is the one thing you log that does leave the phone.
The rest of this page explains each of those properly. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Who we are
Chizld is made by Marabar Studios, an independent app studio registered in India. There is one person behind it. For anything on this page, write to contact@marabarstudios.com.
What stays on your device
Chizld stores its data in the app's own private storage on your phone, using a database only Chizld can read. There is no account to create, no login, and no copy of it held by us or anyone else. That covers:
- Workouts, exercises, sets, weights, reps, effort ratings and tempo
- XP, levels, zone statistics, streaks and milestones
- Body measurements, body-fat estimates and body ratios
- Progress photos
- Meals, food logs, calorie and macro targets, and diet plans
- Sleep logs and your sleep schedule
- Supplements, planner entries and daily tasks
- Step counts
- Alarm settings and the record of when it rang and how it was dismissed
- Your app preferences
Some of this is health and body data, and some of it is sensitive. That is exactly why it stays where it is. None of the categories above is ever transmitted anywhere, by us or by the analytics described below.
Progress photos
Photos you take in Chizld are written to the app's private storage. They are not added to your camera roll, not backed up to any cloud service by us, and not visible to other apps. They are never uploaded.
What is sent, and why
Crash reports — on by default
When Chizld crashes or hits an error, a report goes to Sentry, which we use to find and fix bugs. A report contains the error and its stack trace, your device model, Android version, and the app version — plus the names of the screens you moved between just before it happened, such as "Train" or "Settings".
It is filtered before it leaves, using a strict allowlist: anything not explicitly permitted is stripped rather than sent. In particular it never includes the content of what you logged, no screenshots, no view of the screen, and no identifiers we could use to work out who you are.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Crash reports. Turning it off stops collection immediately.
Usage analytics — off unless you say yes
Chizld can send anonymous usage events to PostHog, hosted in the European Union. This is off by default. Nothing is collected, queued or stored until you explicitly agree, and we ask you once, in the app, at a point where you have actually used it.
If you say yes, these are the only events sent:
- Which onboarding step you reached, and whether you moved past it
- Whether you took or skipped the first progress photo
- That a workout was started, and that a workout was completed
- Which of the five main tabs you opened
- That you agreed to analytics
That is the complete list. There is no event that can carry an exercise name, a weight, a food, a measurement, a photo, or anything you typed — the app is built so those values cannot be attached to an event at all.
Each install gets a random identifier so repeat visits can be counted as one person rather than many. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number or device name, and location lookup from your IP address is switched off. Chizld does not use session recording, and does not show ads or share anything with advertisers.
You can withdraw at any time in Settings → Privacy → Usage analytics. Doing so stops collection and clears anything still waiting to be sent.
YouTube — form videos
Chizld lets you attach a YouTube link to an exercise as a form reference. Two things happen when you do:
The link you save is sent to YouTube. When you paste a video link, Chizld asks YouTube's public service for that video's title so it can show you a readable name instead of a raw URL. The link travels to Google to make that happen.
Playing a video loads Google's player. When you play a saved video, YouTube's own player runs inside Chizld. Google receives your IP address and may set cookies, exactly as it would if you opened the video in a browser.
This is the one case where something you saved leaves your phone. What Google does with it is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not this one. If you never save or play a video link, none of this happens.
Other apps and links
Chizld can open the ChatGPT app to help you convert a food label or a workout program into something it can import. Chizld only opens the app — it sends nothing to OpenAI on your behalf, and anything you paste there is between you and them. Links to other websites open in your browser, and those sites have their own policies.
Permissions
Each permission Chizld asks for, what it does, and what you lose by refusing.

The ambient light sensor is read only while the alarm is ringing, to detect whether you have taken the phone into daylight. The reading is used on the spot and is not transmitted.
Your data, your control
Taking it with you
Settings → Export backup hands you the complete Chizld database as a single file through Android's share sheet. Where it goes is entirely your choice — your own Drive, your files, anywhere. We never see it. Because your data lives only on your phone, this export is also your only protection against losing it if the device is lost, wiped or broken. We recommend doing it periodically.
Deleting it
Uninstalling Chizld permanently deletes everything — the database, your photos, your preferences. There is no copy anywhere else, and we cannot recover it for you. Export first if you want to keep it.
For the crash reports and analytics events described above, write to contact@marabarstudios.com and we will delete what is associated with your install and confirm when it is done.
Where data goes and how long it stays
Crash reports are processed by Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) and usage events by PostHog, on servers in the European Union. Both act as processors on our instructions and are contractually restricted from using the data for their own purposes. Both are retained for no longer than we need them to fix problems and understand how the app is used, and no more than 12 months.
Legal basis and your rights
Most of what Chizld holds never reaches us, so for that data there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete — it is in your hands, on your device.
For the limited data described above, you may ask us what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent. Analytics runs on your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time without affecting the app. Crash reporting runs on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, and you can switch it off in the same place. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the UK or EU GDPR, or similar laws. Write to us and we will honour them.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or any cross-context behavioural purpose.
Children
Chizld is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app and something reached us, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If what Chizld collects ever changes, this page changes first, and the version and date at the top change with it. Material changes will be surfaced in the app rather than quietly published here. Previous versions are in this site's public repository history.
